EPS Engineering & Design (EPS E&D) is the professional engineering arm of Electric Power Systems International, Inc. (EPSII).  EPS E&D was formed in 2008 to offer a broad spectrum of capabilities that range from a simple relay settings change all the way to turnkey a 500kV power substation design project.

EPS E&D has the ability to provide our customers cost effective consulting, engineering, design and drafting services, with support through construction completion and commissioning with a personal touch that differentiates our small, privately held firm from the very large design companies that need to compensate for higher overhead costs.

Job Description:

The candidate will work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers to provide construction ready design packages which includes all physical, electrical and protection & control information necessary for the construction of medium and high voltage substations.  The designer will be responsible for the preparation of schematics, wiring diagrams, elevations, plan views, material lists, conduit and cable schedules and specifications.  The candidate must be able to generate design drawings from verbal or written communication. 

• Associates degree or certificate of completion from an accredited drafting program
• Five (5) or more years of increasing drafting experience including scaling, drawing layout, lettering and a high degree of accuracy
• Two (2) or more years of increasing designer experience including development of schematics, wiring diagrams, elevations, plan views material lists, conduit and cable schedules and specifications
• Extensive knowledge of both AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Basic knowledge of substation terminology and symbolism
• Learn and apply drafting and company standards
• Self-motivated to research assigned projects, new drafting techniques and increase job related knowledge to further career
• Minimal travel may be required to visit customer sites to collect information

• Must be highly creative and analytical with the ability to think critically
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Works effectively in a team environment
• Excellent organizational skills
• Review of own work for zero error output
