Job Purpose: Commissioning engineers ensure that all aspects of a substation project are properly designed, installed, tested and maintained. They perform troubleshooting tasks, monitor progress, perform tests, conduct audits, assist in financial improvements, write reports and assist clients.
Responsible for coordinating, work connected with the testing and/or commissioning of electrical distribution and transmission substations for utility clients. Individual will provide direct supervision over Electric Power Systems startup personnel along with others suppliers such as contractor electricians and engineering staff. Individual needs to have a strong background in protection and control circuits in transmission substations. Familiarity with the programming and testing transmission type relays such as Schweitzer, GE, Areva and ABB relays would be an adder (not required). Experience required in the evaluation of testing data for power circuit breakers, transformers and other substation components. Substation component testing would be performed by others.
Manage EPS project staff of up to 6 full-time employees that may include assistant, substation technicians, relay engineers. Supervision and direction may also be required of other supplier personnel.
